About the artist
Rosanna Koelewijn-Tromp is a native Aruban artist. Inspired by her older brothers and sisters, she started painting at a very early age. Her passion for painting grew more as she discovered all the beauty she could create with her own hands.

Rosanna paints from the heart.
To strengthen her technique she attended different painting courses in Holland as well as in Aruba. Although she is very much acquainted with the different techniques in painting, her favorite medium still remains acrylic.

She is very much inspired by her island Aruba. Her paintings show all the beauty her beloved island Aruba has to offer.

Amongst her favorite subjects to paint are: the Aruban countryside and life, especially the goats and the chickens; Aruban fruits, like the mangoes, the cashew fruit, the pommegranates, sea grapes; the beautiful Aruban coastline, with the blue/aqua colors of the sea, the white beaches, the green and purple colors of the sea grapes, the in their way clumsy but oh so magnificent pelicans, the typical Aruban fisherman’s boats, called peanut shells (due to their sometimes very small sizes) and so on.

Looking at her paintings, you can feel the love and energy she has put in every single piece. They are colorful and full of life and happiness. Rosanna is married to Jan-Dirk Koelewijn. They have a son, called Jacob, who’s fifteen years old. Both Jan-Dirk and Jacob are a source of help and encouragement for Rosanna. They both are her most loved critics of her work. Without their help and support, she couldn’t have made it this far. Jan-Dirk helps her in every possible way, but his main activities remain the photography and the maintenance of this website. This website was designed and created by Jan-Dirk himself.

Rosanna has participated in different art exhibitions in the past. The last one was in 2008 in Cas di Cultura and was called: Happiness with art in the family. An art exhibition organized by the native Tromp family in Aruba and the second family art exhibition held in Aruba. This exhibition turned out to be a complete success again. This time it was an exhibition of her paintings, together with paintings, sculptures, pictures and a piano recital of seven other family members that participated.
Through her art Rosanna wants to capture and share all the beauty Aruba has to offer. Not only does she want to paint the beauty and the colorfulness of Aruba’s nature, she also wants to transfer the joy and happiness she feels whenever she is painting her beloved island’s nature. Rosanna’s art reflects the friendliness, happiness and joy of the Aruban people and Aruban life. Rosanna’s way is the art of simplicity: “The beauty of simplicity”.
